Recipe: Stewed Apples & Oatmeal Bowl

This stewed apple and oatmeal bowl is one of my favorite seasonal recipes. It takes about 10 minutes to make, can easily be multiplied to feed others, and makes me feel appropriately fueled to start my day grounded and clear.

Cooked apples cleanse and hydrate the body, while oats, ghee, and warming spices kindle your digestive fire (agni), bring in antimicrobial properties, and calm your nervous system. From a modern lens, this mix supports blood sugar balance, gut health, immunity, and energy reserves.

Make a batch, eat it mindfully, and know you’ve done yourself a solid.

Serves: 1
Prep + Cook Time: ~10 minutes

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup organic oats (cooked according to package instructions)

  • Pinch of pink, Himalayan, or sea salt

  • ½ tbsp ghee (plus 1 tsp extra for apples)

  • ½ apple, chopped into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 tsp allspice powder

  • A few dashes of cinnamon powder

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • Optional: 1 tbsp hemp hearts

Instructions

  1. Cook oats according to package instructions. Add a pinch of salt and ½ tbsp ghee. Set aside.

  2. In a small saucepan, melt 1 tsp ghee over low heat. Add allspice and cinnamon. Stir gently to release their aroma.

  3. Add maple syrup, then toss in chopped apples, coating them evenly.

  4. Cover and simmer on low for 7–9 minutes, or until tender.

  5. Remove from heat and fold the stewed apples into your oatmeal.

  6. Top with hemp hearts, a spoonful of ghee, or an extra sprinkle of cinnamon.

Serve warm and eat slowly - your body (and your day) will thank you.

With warmth & wellness,
