Bonus Remedy: Golden Healing Soup Recipe
Autumn makes our bodies naturally crave warmth, grounding, and a little extra support for the immune system. In Ayurveda, we lean into the wisdom of the kitchen to nourish the body and spirit. This soup is one of those recipes you’ll want to keep close because it’s quick, deeply healing, and delicious.
The potent trio of garlic, ginger, and turmeric creates a powerful immunity shield, while sweet potato and carrots lend their natural sweetness and earthiness to keep you rooted. A dollop of ghee (or your favorite oil or butter) rounds out the flavors, bringing that sweet comfort food feeling.
Ingredients:
4 tbsp ghee (or sub butter, avocado oil, or your favorite cooking oil)
5 large garlic cloves, minced
4 large carrots, peeled & coarsely chopped
1 large sweet potato, peeled & coarsely chopped
2–3 tbsp fresh grated ginger root
1–2 tbsp fresh grated turmeric root (or sub 1 tsp dried turmeric)
4–5 cups vegetable stock
1 tbsp curry powder
2 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)
1 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
5 bay leaves
Optional garnish: fresh cilantro, sunflower seeds, avocado slices, or a decadent drizzle of more ghee.
Instructions:
In a stock pot, warm the ghee and sauté garlic until aromatic.
Add all remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
Cook for 15–20 minutes, until vegetables are tender.
Remove bay leaves, then blend with an immersion blender until smooth and velvety.
Garnish to your heart’s contentment.
Ayurvedic Notes:
Ginger & turmeric awaken agni (digestive fire) and clear ama (toxins).
Garlic & bay leaves have strong antimicrobial properties keeping colds away.
Carrots & sweet potato nourish the tissues while offering grounding, stabilizing energy.
Ghee supports ojas (vital energy and immunity), leaving you feeling nourished on a deep level.
With warmth & wellness,
