Kapha Balancing Dandelion Tea for Spring
Spring invites movement within and all around us. This seasonal tea blend supports that shift by gently warming the body and encouraging natural detoxification of both body and mind. I served it at our recent Common Bloom Women’s Collective, and let’s just say… not a single drop was left!
Ingredients:
1 tsp dried dandelion root
1 tsp dried dandelion leaf
1 tsp tulsi (holy basil) leaves (dried or fresh)
1/2 tsp nettles
1/2 tsp ginger root (fresh grated or dried)
1/4 tsp cloves (or cinnamon)
1/4 tsp fennel seeds
A squeeze of fresh lemon juice (added after steeping)
Mix all parts and add 2 cups of boiling water. Let steep for 10 minutes, strain, smell the fragrance, speak a word of thanks, and sip in the sunshine!
Benefits:
Dandelion root targets the liver and supports elimination of ama (toxins)
Dandelion leaf is gently diuretic and lymph-moving
Tulsi supports respiratory congestion and immunity
Nettles inhibit histamines from aggravating allergies
Ginger and clove ignite agni (digestive fire) and combat Kapha's heaviness
Fennel soothes the digestive tract while gently stimulating metabolism
